Born in 1918, Cyrus H. Avey, Jr. lived and worked as a tinsmith in Texas. He married and had a family before he decided to enlist in the Army Air Corps from Fort Sam Houston in Texas on April 13, 1944. “I served as a Military Policeman,” said Avey. “After the war, I went back home to work at Kelly Field in Texas.”
